2009 Global Development Awards and Medals Competition
2009 research themes "truly global"
The 2009 Global Development Awards and Medals Competition focuses on key issues such as globalization, regional integration and international migration against the backdrop of the current global economic and financial crisis, the political and economic repercussions of which can already be felt across countries and regions. The impact of these crises on the architecture of developing countries cannot be understated. They have prompted many to challenge globalization and they are also likely to hasten the structural shift in global economic power from Western countries to emerging markets. The Competition, now closed, was open to researchers from developing & transition countries and accepts submissions in the following three categories:
Category 1: Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development For applicants who have outstanding new research proposals that add a unique dimension to research on any of the three themes listed below
Category 2: Medals for Research on Development For excellent completed research papers on any of the three themes listed below
The 2009 Global Development Awards and Medals Competition themes are:
- Globalization, Regulation and Development
- International Migration: Crossing Borders, Changing Lives?
- Regional Integration- Convergence Big Time, or, an Opportunity Wasted?
Category 3: Japanese Award for Most Innovative Development Project For exceptional on-going development projects that have given maximum benefit to local communities and need further financial assistance to scale-up the project.
